Upon its launch the SFMTS tapped a cultural nerve that catapulted it into the national spotlight. Over the next several years we became the de facto spokespeople for all things mixtapes – being featured on major media outlets (The New York Times, NPR, Esquire Magazine), hosting speaker panels at music festivals (SXSW, SF MusicTech), creating content for music events (Treasure Island, California Academy of Sciences, ReMixed Media) and campaigning for local causes (Save KUSF). Beyond being the organizer and host of the event, I also created the identity and promotional materials.

Between events we kept our audience engaged by creating content like our annual Valentine’s Day mix and campaigning for local causes such as the Save KUSF.
The event was covered by many publications including The New York Times Magazine, NPR’s Here & Now and Now Hear This, Esquire Magazine, 7x7 and The Guardian where we were awarded Best of the Bay in 2010.
